Meeme House: After Dark
Educational Program

Historic Meeme House, July 1, 1900

Travel back in time at the Meeme House.

When the sun goes down, it’s time to explore. Experience the story of the Meeme House after hours with immersive hands-on programming, and engaging local history—all within a unique theme.

The Meeme House was built in the 1850s along the old Green Bay Road, a main path for travelers. The Herr family welcomed travelers and provided a community gathering space.

Participants will discover the pivotal role of the Meeme House in the late 1860s through a chosen program theme. Programming begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at 9:00 pm. Group sizes often range from 15 to 50 people.

After Dark Program Cost: $25 per participant (minimum of 15 people).

*Look for select dates where overnight camping on the grounds is included for an additional cost.

Program Reservations

Participants must be at least 7 years old and the group must provide chaperones. Once you find a date that works for you, fill out the Reservation Request Form, using the link below. You will provide possible dates for your experience.

The amount of participants that you reserve with at this point is what you are financially responsible for. If you wish to change this number without being penalized, you must confirm, in writing, any attendance changes with MCHS staff 30 days before your experience.

Arrival

Groups should plan to arrive at the Museum’s Meeme House at 6:00 PM. Upon arrival to the museum grounds, there will be a directional sign at the McAllister House Welcome Center gate to direct groups to the Meeme House. The Education Coordinator will provide you specific arrival and parking instructions prior to your visit. At the Meeme House, your group will be greeted by an living history interpreter to make sure everything is in order for the experience. Further instructions will be given to the group leader and guests will be welcomed inside.

The Meeme House is one of many historic structures on our grounds. Download a Meeme House and MCHS site map and follow the signage on site to the Meeme House.
