Trades and Occupations (Homeschool Program)

  • Manitowoc County Historical Society 924 Pinecrest Road Manitowoc, WI 54220 (map)

Homeschool Days are specially designed field trip days for small groups. The benefit is that your visit is self-guided and more flexible than our structured field trip options. You’ll have our interpreters’ attention, PLUS the benefit of your group being able to move around the site at its own pace.

Meet with costumed interpreters and participate in the activities of the day.

The program begins at 10 am and activities will take place both inside our historic structures and outside until 2 pm. You may come anytime but we recommend at least 90 minutes to take part in all the activities.

Meet tradespeople in Pinecrest Village and become their apprentice: Mr. Sykora at the shoe shop, Mr. Witt in the blacksmith shop, Mrs. Rank at the Dress Shop, the newspaper reporter, the railroad conductor, and the Burke's, who own the General Store. Learn how they are adapting to new technology and power to expand their businesses.

The ideal age for this program is 4 to 17. Register by May 9.

Homeschool program admission is $6 for students age 4 to 17. Children under 4 are admitted free. One adult educator per family is admitted free.  Additional adults may join in the program at a cost of $6 each.
