Summer Camp

Spanning 60 wooded acres in central Manitowoc County, our campus welcomes you to experience the stories of our past this summer. The Manitowoc County Historical Society offers various outdoor, historically themed exhibits and indoor experiential learning spaces that combine history and art with science, technology, engineering and math to offer an authentic look into history that shapes society today.

  • 5 Day Camp (includes summer camp programs Monday through Friday, July 9 to 13 for one camper)
    Cost is $80 MCHS Members, $140 Non-members
  • Day Camps may also be registered for individually.
    Cost is $20 MCHS Members, $30 Non-members

The day camps are described below. Each camp includes a morning snack and drink. Campers should bring their own lunch. Each camper will receive a confirmation letter with more details on the camp. Advanced registration is required for each camp.

Summer Camp 2018:
July 9 through 13


civil war soldier (ages 6 to 13)

Single Day Session: Thursday, July 12 - 9 am to 3 pm

Come spend a day as a Civil War Soldier! Learn how to march and drill, build a tent, cook over the camp fire and more.


Little Village on the Prairie (ages 6 to 13)

Single Day Session: Monday, July 9 - 9 am to 3 pm

Come and see how our early pioneers would have lived at Pinecrest! Explore the buildings that they would have lived and worked in.  Partake in pioneer chores including laundry, mowing the lawn, and baking.


1872 School and play (ages 6 t0 13)

Single Day Session: Tuesday, July 10 - 9 am to 3 pm

Don't be late for the school bell! Take part in a day in a one-room school house, complete with family chores, cooking snacks, school lessons, and of course, play!


Pinecrest Chefs (ages 6 to 13)

Single Day Session: Friday, July 13 - 9 am to 3 pm

Come try your hand at cooking, like it was done during the times of Laura and Almanzo! Prepare some tasty treats over a wood stove. 


Pinecrest Apprentice (ages 11-14)

Single Day Session: Thursday, July 12 - 9 am to 3 pm

Blacksmithing.  Woodworking. Printmaking and more.  Discover the roles of historic trades and occupations!


life on the farm (ages 6-13)

Single Day Session: Wednesday, July 11 - 9 am to 3 pm

Pinecrest's gardens, pastures, and animals provide countless opportunities for campers to learn about farm life. Our Farm Camp introduces children to the farm through games, activities, arts, adventure, harvesting, and cooking.
