How do I become a member?

How long do memberships last?
Memberships are valid 365 days from the date of purchase. You can become a member in any month of the year - you choose! Your membership is valid from the date of purchase.

How many people can I include on my membership and who is covered?
All Basic, Plus, Baensch and Access Level memberships include one household: two adults or grandparents in the same household and all dependent children (age 21 and under).

Can my children visit with our nanny or another adult that is not a member?
Member children may visit with other adults not listed on the membership cards. Adults not listed on the membership card will be required to purchase admission. Plus level members have the option to add a "Designated Caregiver" to their membership. Designated caregivers receive free admission when accompanied by member children.

What is a Designated Caregiver?
A designated caregiver is someone other than the two named adults listed on a Plus membership that may bring the member children to the Manitowoc County Historical Society - i.e. Nanny, babysitter, caregiver, etc. Designated caregivers receive free admission when accompanied by member children.

Only one designated caregiver may be listed at a time and may be changed once within a membership year. The designated caregiver must show photo ID and membership card and be accompanied by member children to receive free general admission.

Can I transfer my membership to someone else?
No. Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Can I purchase a gift membership for someone else?
Yes. You can purchase a gift membership here. As the purchaser, you can choose the level of membership and the month your membership begins by your date of purchase. Memberships are valid 365 days from the date of purchase. The gift membership is valid from the date of purchase. A gift membership is a great choice any time of the year.

How do members check in?
Members are not required to reserve general admission tickets in advance. Upon arrival, members will need to visit the admissions desk with a valid membership card and photo ID. Additional tickets can be purchased at the ticket desk if needed.

Can children use their membership for their school field trips?
No. Children may not use their membership card for a school or homeschool program.

How long will it take to receive my membership cards?
Please allow 2-3 weeks to receive your membership cards. If you would like to visit before receiving your membership cards, be sure you have registered for an online account and learn how to download your digital membership.

I lost/forgot/have not received my membership card. Can I still visit the Manitowoc County Historical Society?
Yes. A photo ID can be shown at the ticket desk to receive general admission tickets for the day. To replace a lost card, please email guestservices@ManitowocCountyHistory.org.

Can I bring guests along?
PLUS and Baensch level members are allowed two guest admissions for general admission only. Individual level members are allowed one guest admission for general admission only. Your guests must accompany you on your visit. Just let the admissions desk staff know you have guests and they will be added to your account. No physical guest passes are issued.

How do I get a refund?
A membership may be refunded if the request is made within 24 hours of the purchase.

Can daily admission be applied toward the price of a membership?
Undecided about purchasing a membership? Purchase general admission tickets and enjoy your visit. Then, apply the cost of your general admission tickets to your new membership. (Only ticket admission for persons covered under the membership type will be applied.)

How often can members visit?
Members can visit as often as they like.

Are memberships tax deductible?
Memberships are not tax deductibe.

Can I let my guests use my membership card?
No. Only the two named adults and children listed on the membership receive free admission. Guests of PLUS members only receive free admission when accompanied by cardholder.

Do you offer reciprocal membership discounts with other museums?
Yes. Members have access to free or discounted admission to hundreds of museums throughout the U.S. through the Time Travelers reciprocal network
