America’s Eras – An America250 camp

In honor of the 250th birthday of our country, come take a journey with us as we step into America’s past and look to its future.  Explore life before this land became America and how westward expansion and industrialization changed our lives.

Learn through crafts, games, and visits to some of our historic structures.

Registration Information:

  • Advanced registration is required for each participant.

  • Camp Scholarships may be available for those needing financial assistance. You may request a camp scholarship in writing.

  • MCHS Members receive a 15% discount on the camp registration fees. Are you a member? Don't forget to create an online account prior to camp registration to receive the discount!

  • A confirmation email of enrollment and receipt of payment will be sent via email immediately after you complete your online registration.

  • If the camp you desire is full, you can put your child on the wait list. Should space become available in camp, you will be contacted.

  • When canceling a camp 30 days or more in advance, a refund of 50% will be issued. No refund will be given for camps canceled with less than 30 days notice.

  • Check-in Location: When arriving at camp, please arrive at our McAllister House Welcome Center at the Manitowoc County Historical Society, located at 924 Pinecrest Road, Manitowoc.  The Welcome Center is located right off the parking lot.

  • Drop Off/Pick-up: Campers should be dropped off and picked up in a timely manner. If you will be late or need to leave early, please let staff know. Students will need to be signed out when they leave, so please have the parent/guardian come into the Welcome Center to sign the child out.

  • What to bring to camp: You can bring a backpack with you to camp.  We recommend bringing a water bottle, sun screen, bug spray, and wearing casual clothes and shoes (preferably closed-toed shoes) that allow for adventure (running around, doing crafts, etc).  We encourage you to dress as part of history as well!

  • Lunch/Snacks: Campers enrolled in full day camps should bring a lunch.  Lunch bags will be kept safe until lunch time.  We also encourage you to bring a snack, as we will take breaks in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon each day.

  • Snacks are not provided, though there may be opportunities to taste and create food from the historic kitchens and gardens. Campers will be allowed to bring a small snack of their choosing, but please note that we do not have the capacity to refrigerate snack items. Please mark any food or other allergies on the registration form so that all campers can be provided the best experience.

  • Camp attendees get 10% off in the Museum Store!
