The Manitowoc County Historical Society is excited to offer programs for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts BSA to fulfill badge requirements. We have several hands-on programs for all Scouts as well as special discounted rates for day time visits. Contact us today to step into the stories of our past!

Ongoing Experiences:

These ongoing experiences are included in museum admission and are docent led unless otherwise specified.

Junior Girl Scouts: Playing the Past Help your Junior Girl Scouts complete their Playing the Past badge by visiting Shadyside School and trying your hand at games from the past. The cost is $6 per scout. Estimated time is 1 hour during a general admission day. Minimum of 3 scouts, Maximum of 30 scouts.

Cub Scouts - Tigers: Collections and Hobbies Badge Tiger Scouts can complete requirement 3a for the Collections and Hobbies badge by visiting the museum and exploring our exhibits. The cost is $6 per scout. Estimated time is 1 hour during a general admission day. Minimum of 3 scouts, Maximum of 30 scouts.

Boy Scouts - Metalworking Merit Badge
Learn the history of blacksmithing and safety in the shop - and then create 2 projects to take home - a “steak flipper” and a spatula, including rivet work.

Please contact your Scout Leader and/or Merit Badge counselor about other requirements. Additionally, it is up to your Merit Badge Counselor to determine if this activity fills the requirement for the Blacksmithing portion.  Please note one on the volunteer blacksmiths is a Metalwork Merit Badge Counselor for the Baylake Council.  He may be willing to help you complete the Metalwork Merit Badge requirements via the normal process and proper arrangements.

The cost is $50 per scout. Estimated time is 9 am to 3 pm. Minimum of 3 scouts, Maximum of 10 scouts.

The Manitowoc County Historical Society proud to offer programming for scouts to earn badges, petals, loops, and patches. The programing for scouts typically fulfils a badge requirement but additional activities outside of the program may be required. Museum admission is included in the price of the program.

On Sunday, any youth (18 or under) Scout (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.) who comes to Civil War Days in his or her uniform will be given free admission.
