Themed Field Trip
Civil War School Day
Friday, September 25 from 9:30 am - 2 pm
Discover the Civil War! Participants learn how the soldiers and citizens of the North and South lived during the conflict. Watch cavalry, artillery, and medical demonstrations, engage in stories of the homefront here in Manitowoc County, and participate in hands-on activities. You may even learn how to march! Join us where the textbook page springs to life.
Registration and Additional Details
This program is open to all public, private, and home school students. Reservations are suggested one week before the program date, with final reservations 48 hours before the program begins (if not sold out prior). This program is for pre-registration only.
Schools will be divided into groups of no more than 30 students and adults.
Program fees are:
Primary Family Educator/Teacher: FREE;
Additional Adults/Chaperones: $13;
Youth (4 – 17): $9 ;
Children under 4: FREE.
Program format: This is a guided tour, taking place from 9:30 to 2 pm. It can be made shorter to accommodate schedule needs.
Please plan to arrive between 9:00 and 9:20 to allow time for your students to check in and receive their company assignments. Final commentary will take place at 1:45, along with a cannon firing. If students are sensitive to loud noises, they are welcome to leave before the cannon firing.
There will be a time and space set aside for a lunch break. Please note that our Manitowoc County Historical Society has a carry in, carry out trash policy. We encourage a 1:10 ratio of adults to students (teachers are included in with adults).
